Generosity

DSC_0833

I've seen much evidence in my tenure as a Downey Daily photographer that the people of Downey are generous people: with their time, with their talents, and with their money.

This is one example of all three types of giving. The Downey Symphony Guild raised $15,000 for the Downey Symphonic Society, which handles the business end of the Downey Symphony. These two organizations are staffed with volunteers who give of their time and talents to raise funds and spend them wisely to bring Downey and the surrounding communities the beauty of classical music.

Christmas traditions

P1030083

It's Christmas.

One thing I've learned over the years as people from other families have been added to join in our family traditions is that their families have some different traditions. Our family begins Christmas day by going to church at 6:00 am for a service that helps us focus our attention on God's gift to the world, Jesus. One way we do this is to light the Advent candles.
