Downey has a wild side. We have the opossums, the racoons, and the occasional coyote. And we have a lot of squirrels.
Originally, I tried to set up a bird feeder in my yard. But the squirrels kept chasing the birds away and stealing the food, no matter how inaccessible I thought I was making it. So I finally gave in and just fed the squirrels.
And I have to admit, they're a lot of fun to watch.
I don't mind tree squirrels, and I've found them cute since I was a child and first met them in Sacramento. I never saw any in Bellflower when I was growing up. It's the ground squirrels that decimate my gardens now here in Templeton that I don't think are cute anymore.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I'm guessing that these are tree squirrels. (I'm not sure I know the difference.) The biggest headache we get from them is that they gather walnuts from the neighbors down the street and then bury them all around our yard. We're always pulling up baby walnut trees!
