When the sun doesn't rise
I can hear it now — "Not another riverbed picture!" But I have an excuse. Really!
I'm taking a photography class, and the first week's assignment was to use light to express your subject in the best possible way. So I got up super early Sunday morning and headed off to the riverbed to catch the sunrise.
But there was no sun. Instead, there was this other-worldly mist rising off the water, and beautiful white birds (someone will have to tell me what kind) winging their way through it.
Not what I expected. But worthwhile anyway.

For the first second I though it was painting. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were rewarded for heading there early.
ReplyDeleteWhat is that at the top of the frame? It looks like corrugated steel. Dying of curiosity.
This is gorgeous! I love the lone swan. I guess I need to get up earlier for those riverbed walks.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteMary Ann, the band at the top is the wrought iron-style fence that separates the walkway at the top of the riverbed from the park that is on the other side. You can see the trees and a little bit of the sky through it.
Very artistic
ReplyDeleteshould I even comment that this picture is amazing?
ReplyDeleteAfter many comments (some email), I posted a version of this picture with the fence cropped out at http://flic.kr/p/8DfTjF.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an Egret
