My friends and I took advantage of the "extra" holiday day today to go to the snow. The recent rainstorms we've experienced in Downey have left several inches of snow in our local mountains, even at lower elevations.
About halfway up the mountain, we entered the clouds, and visibility dropped to just a few hundred feet. We had to slow way down, but this gave us even more time to see the striking scenery along the way. We rarely get to see the results of snow melting and freezing and melting again, and so on. It was a very beautiful sight.

I especially like the second photo with ice in the branches.
