This year's Rose Parade entry from Downey is entitled "The Gold Rush." Right now, it looks more like a pile of rust than a celebration of gold, but that will change quickly over the next couple of weeks.
Soon, the frame will get a surface coat to serve as a base. At that point, it will start to resemble this model. Then, starting the day after Christmas, the plant material will be applied, adding the color that shows in the artist's rendering on the table. Finally, the roses and other flowers will be added on New Year's Eve day.Then, on to Pasadena!
