Downey is close to Naples, a neighborhood in Long Beach that was created in the early 1900s as the "Dreamland of Southern California." Walking along the canals and bridges to enjoy the brightly decorated houses is one of our Christmas traditions. You can certainly see why they called it the Dreamland—it feels a little like Disneyland with all the lights and decorations.
It's often crowded, but tonight wasn't too bad. And, you can almost always be treated by wandering musicians playing Christmas favorites.
Like snowflakes, my Christmas memories gather and dance — each beautiful, unique and too soon gone.
