As I posted on Monday (Freeway close), pedestrians aren't very welcome on our local freeways. But if you're a pedestrian wanting to cross over the freeway, that's a different story. Here, you can see one of several pedestrian bridges over the I5 freeway. These lead to the neighborhoods in the small section of Downey that is north of that freeway.

Thanks, Frank. I have a suspicion that these get used primarily by school kids, since the middle schools are all on this side of the freeway.
