In addition to the freedom of speech, the First Amendment guarantees us the right to peaceful assembly. Pro-life groups regularly exercise both freedoms at the FPA Women's Health facility in Downey. Today, about a dozen pro-life protesters gathered outside, handing out brochures.
Did you know that, at 8 weeks...
- The baby's heartbeat, which has been beating for one month already, can be heard on an office ultrasonic stethoscope.
- Brain waves were measurable two weeks ago.
- The baby feels pain and responds to touch.
"We cannot diminish the value of one category of human life — the unborn — without diminishing the value of all human life."
~ Ronald Reagan
Don't you find it ironic that you highlight the "pro-life" person holding the sign, but you don't mention the two pro-choice people in the background. They are there to escort stressed and frightened women passed the pro-life hecklers.
ReplyDeleteHi Pers. Thanks for your feedback. I chose this photo that showed both groups rather than the shot of just the protesters out front, because I wanted to focus on the "peaceful assembly" aspect of our freedoms. Even though my beliefs are apparent from my post (as are yours from your comment), I wasn't trying to be contentious or to leave anyone out. Pam
