I've never been a golfer. I'm one of those people who consistently hit the ball round the hole, not into it. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to walk the course this afternoon at the Rio Hondo Golf Course's open house.
Mark Twain said, "Golf is a good walk spoiled." As I wandered around what seemed like miles and miles of paths through beautifully landscaped hills and lakes and trees, I wished I could come here every day for my daily walk. It's quiet and peaceful. The solitude makes this an ideal place to relax, to think, to pray.
For that, if for nothing else, maybe I should take up golf.
