All in a row

I had every intention of posting a picture of something else today when, on my walk today, I saw this in a someone's front yard. I had to take a picture of it. I've never seen anyone do this before and I was wondering what the reason was.

    They probably washed them and are letting them drip dry.

    I know... I was hoping for an exciting story of tradition and goofy superstitions. But I'm afraid you're probably right on the nose.
