Home is where the heart is
Your home, and its surroundings, define you. Your personality, your hobbies, your affiliations, your influences.
A "welcome" mat with puppy paws, a "Grandma's House" sign in the window, or a roughly but carefully built bird house all act as windows into the resident's soul.
"Home is a place not only of strong affections, but of entire unreserve; it is life's undress rehearsal, its backroom, its dressing room." ~Harriet Beecher Stowe

So true about people and their homes. I think the bird that moves in here show great taste. I love older homes.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely. The thoughts, the quotes, all bring us closer to an understanding of what "home" is really all about. And the birdhouse! It is "home" to a lucky family of birds, and represents the natural hospitality of the family who put it there. I love the way the photo directs our attention specifically towards the birdhouse, but subtly reminds us of the nurturing home behind it.
